A sustainability fair, tour to Sentosa, and a community clean-up – not your typical work week, but definitely a meaningful one for the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) Family! The annual MSE Family Go Green Week returned for its fourth edition from 22 to 26 June 2026, giving MSE officers the opportunity to not only see sustainability in action, but have a little fun too while participating in the week-long activities! In support of the Year of Climate Adaptation and Go Green SG, this year’s edition is all about understanding climate change, why adaptation is important, and how all of us can play a part.
Kicking Off the Week-Long Celebration with MSE Family’s Sustainability Fair
The Environment Building came alive on 22 June with our very own Sustainability Fair to mark the start of a fun and engaging MSE Family Go Green Week 2026. It brought together MSE Family colleagues, community partners, and sustainability organisations for a lively morning of food, games, and learning.
There were booths set up by MSE’s three statutory boards – National Environment Agency, PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, and Singapore Food Agency – as well as by local farmers under the SG Farmers’ Market, where a variety of fresh produce like eggs, vegetables, fish, and (for the first time) mushrooms, were featured and offered on sale to MSE Family staff.

Fun and interactive game booths also helped staff learn more about sustainability topics, such as testing one’s recycling knowledge by throwing the right waste in the right bin.
Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu was all smiles as she joined MSE Family staff at the event. During her opening speech, she reminded everyone to pack a fan and dress light, underscoring that each of us has a role to play in adapting to our changing climate.

From informative exhibits to interactive games and fresh produce offerings, the Sustainability Fair demonstrated that sustainability can be both educational and enjoyable, encouraging everyone to play a part in creating a more climate-resilient future.
Making Waves for a Cleaner Kallang!

The second day of Go Green Week saw some 70 MSE Family staff gathered at Kallang River for a community clean-up, in partnership with the Waterways Watch Society (WWS).
WWS shared about Singapore's water history and how everyone can help keep our waterways clean. Participants then geared up with life jackets, gloves, and buckets before splitting into their respective groups for the clean-up – some by kayak, some by pedal boat.

Participants gasped at the sheer volume of trash found along Kallang River at the end of their activity. Their finds included plastic waste, food and drink packaging, Styrofoam remnants, and cigarette butts. One pedal boater even pulled out a discarded guitar from the river!
By midday, it was time to weigh the trash haul – a total of 50kg of trash had been retrieved. It was a meaningful morning that brought colleagues from the MSE Family together for a collective effort in keeping Singapore's waterways clean and walking the talk on green volunteerism!
Exploring Sentosa’s Green Side
The next day, a group of 20 MSE family staff spent the morning at Sentosa for a learning journey, exploring how nature and urban living can coexist.
The tour began with a guided walk at Sentosa Nature Discovery, where staff learned how various animals and plants contribute to natural conservation. Along the way, the group observed how several of Sentosa's colonial buildings had been repurposed into tourist attractions, demonstrating heritage conservation existing harmoniously alongside natural conservation.

A stop at the microforest offered staff a moment to appreciate how greenery, no matter how small, could have a real impact on health and wellbeing.
