Building on insights from the earlier Climate Adaptation Workshop, COOL Activation Day brings the community together to turn ideas into action in Geylang. Participants will work in small teams to walk around the neighbourhood, identify and activate “Cool Spaces” (such as shops, temples, and associations offering rest or shelter), and validate safer, more comfortable routes during periods of heat and heavy rain.
Participants will also engage residents and workers by sharing simple, practical ways to stay cool, including hydration, improving airflow, and using energy more efficiently (e.g. using fans instead of air-conditioning).
This activity is ideal for those who want to contribute to a meaningful, ground-up initiative and see how small, coordinated actions can make a real difference at the neighbourhood level.
By the end of the session, participants can look forward to applying climate adaptation ideas in real-world settings, learning practical cooling strategies, contributing to a neighbourhood “Cool Map,” and helping to build a network of accessible cooling and shelter spaces.
